Below are the steps to change permissions for the following cases:

  1. Bulk change permissions for folders, subfolders, and files.
  2. Bulk change permissions only for folders.
  3. Change permissions for an individual file.
  4. Bulk change permissions for files in an individual folder.

 

1. Bulk change permissions for folders, subfolders, and files

To bulk change the permissions of your hosting for folders, subfolders, and files, follow these steps:

1. Connect to your site using an FTP client. We recommend using FileZilla, which supports bulk changes in permissions.

2. Locate the folder, right-click and select File Permissions.

3. Enter the Read ("r"), Write ("w") and Execute ("x") permissions either by checking the corresponding checkboxes or by entering the corresponding numeric value.

 

4. To apply permissions to all subfolders and files in the specified folder:

  • 4.1 Check the "Recurse into subdirectories" option and
  • 4.2 "Apply to all files and directories".

5. Click OK to complete the process.


2. Bulk change permissions only for folders

 

To bulk change the permissions of your hosting for folders and corresponding subfolders, follow these steps:

 

1. Connect to your site using an FTP client. We recommend using FileZilla, which supports bulk changes in permissions. See instructions on how to connect here.

2. Locate the folder, right-click and select "File Permissions".

3. Enter the Read ("r"), Write ("w") and Execute ("x") permissions either by checking the corresponding checkboxes or by entering the corresponding numeric value.

4. To apply permissions to all subfolders of the specified folder, check:

  • 4.1 the "Recurse into subdirectories" option and
  • 4.2 the "Apply to directories only" option.

5. Click "OK" to complete the process.


 

3. Change permissions for an individual file

 

To change the permissions for an individual file, follow these steps:

2. Locate the file, right-click and select "File Permissions".

 

3. Enter the Read ("r"), Write ("w") and Execute ("x") permissions either by checking the corresponding checkboxes or by entering the corresponding numeric value.

4. Bulk change permissions for files in an individual folder

 

To bulk change the permissions of your hosting for the files in a specific folder, follow these steps:

 

1. Connect to your site using an FTP client. We recommend using FileZilla, which supports bulk changes in permissions.

 

2. Locate the folder, right-click and select "File Permissions".
